Edinburgh Rugby coach Alan Solomons has revealed that talks have taken place with BT Murrayfield bosses about a transfer swoop to bolster his injury hit squad.
While making it clear no deals are imminent – the Guinness PRO12 takes a two-week break for internationals after tonight’s visit to Leinster – the veteran South African focused on the back row as an area of concern and, when questioned about possible moves, said: “Loose forward-wise we are looking at seeing what we can do.
“I’ve had chats with Scott Johnson (director of rugby) and Mark Dodson (SRU chief executive).”
Solomons was coy about whether this would mean further dipping into his extensive southern hemisphere contacts list and added: “What we have done is taken a line we will sort out this week from within our own squad. We have good youngsters but it is hard.”
Another worry is how David Denton copes after illness this week.
“David didn’t feel right so we sent him home on Monday and he stayed away Tuesday and Wednesday. But he has got to play,” Solomons revealed.
