Robert Carlisle kept alive his hopes of winning a second East of Scotland Snooker Championship by knocking out defending champion Craig McGillivray at the quarter-final stage in the Bert Demarco Matchroom at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

Carlisle made a good start by winning the first two frames and although McGillivray pulled one back with a 71 break in the next, Carlisle won the fourth frame for a 3-1 victory to secure his place in the semi-final. He will now play Jamie Thomson who defeated Kenny Baird in the last eight.

Michael Leslie, back in the event for the first time after a four-year stint on the professional circuit, was in excellent form as he defeated Ross Vallance to book his place in the semi-final. Leslie made breaks of 79 and 104 in a 3-0 victory and will now meet Lee Mein for a place in the final.
