Edinburgh cab driver Derek Dudgeon caused a major upset in the quarter-finals of the East of Scotland snooker championship, defeating defending champion Robert Carlisle.
After winning the first two frames against the Scottish No.1, Dudgeon held his nerve to make a break of 45 in the third to secure a 3-0 victory. He will now play Keith Chalmers in the semi-final after the three-times champion pocketed a 3-1 victory over Musselburgh’s Craig Hunter. Penicuik’s Michael Gallacher reached the semi-final after a 3-0 victory over Falkirk’s Barry Campbell and will now play Lee Mein.
The semi-finals take place next Tuesday and Wednesday evening in the Bert Demarco Matchroom at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.
Kenny Baird will play Jamie Jenkins in the Billiard Final on Sunday.
