Midlothian’s Michael Leslie was disappointed in his bid to qualify for the first-ever snooker ranking event in India, losing 4-0 to world No. 13 Marco Fu at the qualifying stages of the Indian Open in Doncaster.

Fu won a close first frame on the blue before increasing his lead to two frames with a break of 74. Leslie led in the third frame after a run of 29, but Fu responded with two visits of 26 and 25 to win the frame, before showing his class with a tremendous clearance of 134 to secure qualification for the final stages.

Of the other Scots, Stephen Maguire, Alan McManus and Marcus Campbell all secured qualification to join John Higgins, Anthony McGill and Jamie Burnett. However, Glasgow’s Fraser Patrick lost out to England’s Michael Holt.
