BONNYRIGG snooker professional Michael Leslie produced a stunning comeback yesterday to defeat England’s world No. 39 Jack Lisowski 6-4 to reach the last 64 of the UK Championship at The Barbican in York.
Leslie didn’t start well as Lisowski raced to a 4-0 lead at the interval, making breaks of 80 and 99 as he looked on course for an easy victory
However, Leslie, who qualified earlier this month to reach the last 64 of the International Championship in China, kept his good run going by winning six frames in a row to reach the last 64, where he will now meet China’s Liang Wenbo on Sunday.
Leslie said: “I am delighted with the victory. Whilst I didn’t score high, my safety was really good, probably the best it has been in a match since turning pro.
“The way I came back is really satisfying and will stand me in good stead for the future.
“Jack is a great player, so to come back from 4-0 to win is a great result for me.”
Musselburgh teenager Ross Muir is out, though, after losing 6-1 to England’s Mark King.
