Bonnyrigg’s Michael Leslie will be hoping to end a disappointing season on a high when he commences his bid to qualify for the World Snooker Championship today.
Leslie lines up against England’s Craig Steadman over best-of-19 frames at Ponds Forge in Sheffield knowing that three wins will secure one of 16 qualifier places available at the Crucible alongside the world’s top 16 players.
Musselburgh’s Ross Muir is safely through to the second qualifying round after defeating Sean O’Sullivan 10-5. The match was level at 4-4 after the first session before Muir won the next three frames to lead 7-4. Although O’Sullivan pulled a one back, Muir pocketed the next three frame to set up a potential clash with Ding Junhui if the Chinese star can get past Greg Casey.
Scott Donaldson trails Joel Walker 5-4 after the first session.
