Bonnyrigg’s Michael Leslie reached the last 32 of snooker’s China Open after a 5-1 win over Leicester’s Joe O’Connor in Beijing.
Leslie won the opening frame with a break of 60. O’Connor levelled, making 73 but Leslie responded by winning the next two frames comfortably.
Leslie made 54 in the fifth and then won the sixth frame to set-up a clash with former world champion Mark Williams today.
Meanwhile, Granton’s Craig McGillivray partnered Glasgow’s Paul McPhillips to help Scotland reach the quarter-finals of the European Team Championships after a 4-2 win over Poland 3. They play Israel for a semi-final place. Scotland 2 (Edinburgh’s Robert Carlisle and Scott MacFarlane) lost 4-3 to defending champions and hosts Malta 1.
