Edinburgh’s Robert Carlisle was in superb form last night, defeating 15-year-old Steven Geddes to reach the final of the East of Scotland Snooker Championship.
The 23-year-old led from start to finish in a 4-1 victory in the semi-final at the Bert Demarco Matchroom at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.
Carlisle opened up with a 68 in the first before a run of 37 was enough in the second frame to lead 2-0. Geddes pulled one back by winning the third, however Carlisle pocketed breaks of 87 and 69 to secure victory and a showdown with Granton’s Craig MacGillivray in the final on Monday night.
MacGillivray was also in action last night, defeating Glasgow’s Gary Thomson 5-3 in the final of event 4 of the Scottish Main Tour Series at the Minnesota Fats Snooker Club in Glasgow.
After sharing the first four frames, MacGillivray led 3-2 and 4-3 before making a crucial break of 50 in the eighth frame for a 5-3 victory.The win takes MacGillivray back to the top of the Scottish Main Tour rankings.
Bonnyrigg professional Michael Leslie returns to action tomorrow when he faces England’s Mike Dunn in the first round of the European Tour Event 8 at the Gdynia Open in Poland.
Musselburgh’s Ross Muir faces Joe Swail, whilst Scott Donaldson plays James Cahill.
