Snooker: Haining Open exit for Muir

Musselburgh’s Ross Muir narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the Haining Open yesterday, losing 4-3 to England’s Stuart Bingham at the Asian Tour Event 2 in China.

Muir was in devastating form in his last 16 whitewash of England’s Craig Steadman, but against Bingham, after the first four frames were shared, the Englishman edged in front by winning the fifth frame on the black and although Muir levelled the match at 3-3, the world number 10 won the deciding frame for a 4-3 victory.

Scott Donaldson won the first two frames against Peter Ebdon before the former world champion rallied to win four frames on the spin for a 4-2 victory.
