Granton snooker ace Craig McGillivray has pocketed double success in Malta, helping Scotland to team success in the European Team Championships whilst also producing a fabulous solo performance to qualify for the final stages of the Sangsom World 6 Reds Championship.

In the 6 Reds event, McGillivray, now 43, won all four of his group matches before defeating Welshman Gareth Allen 5-2 in a play-off for one of four qualifying places on offer for the event in Bangkok being held between the 7th to the 12th of September.

McGillivray also showed fine form in the European Team event. The Capital taxi driver paired up with Glasgow’s Paul McPhillips to finish top of their section and qualify for the knockout stage of the event which starts today.
