Scott Donaldson edged out Michael Leslie 4-3 in the opening round of the Kaspersky Lab Riga Open in Latvia.

After Donaldson won the opening frame, Leslie won the next two to lead 2-1 before Donaldson took the fourth with a break of 60 to level the match at the interval. Donaldson then won a close fifth frame, but Leslie levelled the match again with a 59, before Donaldson sealed victory by 75-43 in the decider to secure victory.

However, Donaldson’s run was ended in the next round by World No.11 Mark Allen, who made breaks of 52 and 68 in a 4-0 victory.

Musselburgh’s Ross Muir made a run of 77, but lost out 4-1 to England’s Kyren Wilson.

All three players will now turn their attention to qualification for the Shanghai Masters which starts in Barnsley on Wednesday. Donaldson faces Jordan Brown, Leslie is up against Luke Simmonds, whilst Muir plays Malta’s Tony Drago.
