AUSSIES Aaron Summers and Rusty Harrison have both agreed to ride in former Edinburgh Monarchs captain Theo Pijper’s ‘Night of Champions’ Testimonial meeting which will open the Scottish speedway season at Armadale on Friday, March 20.
Harrison, like Summers, an ex-Monarch, said: “I rode with Theo for Glasgow last season and we had a good relationship. We also had some cracking races together and finished up the top two in the Tigers’ averages, which was really good. Even though it wasn’t a great year for Glasgow as a whole, I certainly rediscovered my love for the sport again and I’m looking forward to Theo’s bash.”
While some clubs in the Premier League are awaiting visa clearance for a raft of Australian riders, Monarchs’ top pair Justin Sedgmen and Sam Masters arrived back in the country this week and also seem certain to turn out for Pijper’s event.
And Masters and Sedgmen should be in attendance at Monarchs’ pre-season video show at the Thomas Morton Hall, Leith on Friday, February 27 at 7.30pm.
Meanwhile, Monarchs have confirmed that the club’s practice session will take place at Armadale on Saturday, March 28 at 4pm and is open to the public. There will also be a chance for fans to meet the riders in the bar afterwards.
