Edinburgh Monarchs No.1 Craig Cook is back in the Team GB speedway fold less than a year after he was axed for flopping in his World Cup speedway debut at King’s Lynn last summer.
New national team manager Alun Rossiter has named the Englishman in the side to face the Rest of the World at Leicester on Sunday, 2 March, a fixture which is being held in aid of the annual Ben Fund Bonanza, the organisation who aid injured riders.
Cook’s return to the international stage will please his legion of supporters, although his subsequent Twitter rant at being dropped did him no favours at the time.
Rossiter has already made it clear he won’t tolerate this type of thing, but clearly feels Cook is worthy of inclusion again.
Said Rossiter: “This is a new era for Team GB. There has been a lot of negativity around, too much in my eyes.
“We are not as bad as a lot of people have made us out to be. We just need to be more upbeat about ourselves.”
