German speedway rider Kevin Wolbert has rejoined Edinburgh Monarchs for the 2015 season.
It will be his fourth time in Monarchs colours following a spell between 2009 and 2011. Wolbert comes in on a 6.19 average and has the potential for improvement following a disappointing campaign with rivals Glasgow Tigers in the 2014 season.
Wolbert said: “I’m delighted to be back at Armadale because I very much like the track there. It’s a good track to pass on and it’s always in 100 per cent good shape.”
Wolbert is the third signing announced by Monarchs. He joins Justin Sedgmen and new boy Max Clegg on the roster for next year.
Monarchs boss Alex Harkess said: “Obviously Kevin had a poor year with Glasgow and everybody could see he wasn’t happy there. Hopefully he will be able to ride to a standard we were used to seeing from him when he raced for us. If he can do that we will be more than happy.”
Aussie teenager Max Fricke will not be returning to Monarchs after agreeing to ride in Sweden in 2015. Fricke will also be competing in Denmark and Poland.
He has also been snapped up by an Elite League club in the UK who shall announce his signing later this week.
