EDINBURGH MONARCHS have confirmed that Sam Masters has been snapped up for the 2014 speedway season at Armadale.
The Aussie racer should have ridden for Monarchs this year, but a visa wrangle forced him to stay at home. Now he is ready to resume his career and Monarchs team manager Alex Harkess is delighted that the Capital outfit have finally got their man, albeit it 12 months late.
“Losing out on Sam last season was a big blow to our team-building plans at the time and it forced us back to the drawing board. Thankfully there have been no more hitches with paperwork this time round and I think everybody is looking forward to seeing Sam in action for us. I think he will do a good job and riding alongside Craig [Cook] will give us a very strong-looking top two.”
Masters, speaking from Australia, revealed that although he had received offers from other Premier League teams, he had no hesitation in plumping for Monarchs. “Edinburgh is the place I always wanted to be and I’m looking forward to riding with Craig. I hear he is a good bloke.”
