Edinburgh Monarchs have announced that their latest event to raise funds for the installation of an air fence at Armadale this season.

It will be A Brief History of Speedway in Edinburgh evening at Boroughmuir Rugby Clubhouse, Meggetland, on Friday March 14 (7.30pm). Tickets arte priced at £10 and are on sale now.

A Monarchs spokesman told the Evening News: “The event will comprise a feast of old photographs and videos detailing our racing life at our four major venues: Marine Gardens, Old Meadowbank, Powderhall and Armadale.

“We will have contributions from people who worked on track and off. It should be a great night of nostalgia for fans young and old with a host of behind the scenes stories which may never have been heard before.”

Monarchs air fence total currently stands at just over £13,000 and their challenge fixture against Glasgow Tigers, which raises the curtain on the new campaign on March 28, is expected to boost the coffers further. The final cost of the air fence, which is compulsory for all Premier League clubs in 2014, is expected to top £20,000.
