Falkirk-born speedway star Derek Sneddon looks set for a dramatic return to Edinburgh Monarchs in 2012.
Sneddon, 28, skippered Monarchs to their second Premier League crown in 2008 – but was controversially dumped the following year because Monarchs were over the 42.05 team building points limit.
It’s understood Monarchs have already held informal talks with Sneddon and a club source confirmed: “A deal is pretty close to bring Derek back to Armadale next season.”
Sneddon has ridden on loan for Newcastle Diamonds for the last three seasons’ but remains a Monarchs asset. Monarchs’ co-boss John Campbell has stated that next year’s team will be “cost effective” and it would make financial sense to recall some of the riders’ they own.
