Then pop along to The Cadies and Witchery Tours on West Bow this August - but beware the jumper-ooter.

“It’s like we have been transported back in time to when we launched our walking tours in 1984,” says owner Robin Mitchell. “Back then we organised tours for small family groups taking them on historical walks of the Royal Mile. In the present climate I can see us partly returning to this format for the foreseeable future. We will also be offering our regular Ghosts & Gore tour to smaller groups with the added attraction of a socially distanced jumper ooter.”

It’s a little known fact that Cadies already attract 30% of their business from locals and with the global pandemic showing no signs of going anywhere in the near future, Robin is now actively encouraging locals to “re-discover the Capital at a time in our history which is unprecedented.”

He adds, “If you want to be part of history, you will see Edinburgh this August in a way you’ll never see again. It’s the only time you will see it like this.”

The best walking tours are often the trips with a mix of locals and visitors. The locals often want to look after the visitors and the visitors realise our tours are not just for tourists! Although a worrying time for the tourist sector, it’s a unique time for the traveller to see Edinburgh.”

Cadies: Ghosts & Gore Walking Tour, West Bow, 7pm (80 mins), Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays, £10 (£7.50), booking in advance is essential with a limited head-count for physical distancing. For a bespoke tour contact [email protected] or call 0131-225 6745, Wed-Sun, noon to 6pm
