TV Review: Misfits, E4

Smutty innuendos, far-fetched storylines and joker Nathan - how we’ve missed the Bafta-winning Misfits.

This comedy drama about troubled ASBO kids with super-powers shouldn’t work - but it does and it’s good to see it back for a new series.

Irish funnyman Robert Sheehan has now exited the drama, but Nathan is replaced with new boy Joseph Gilgun who won an army of fans as skinhead Woody in the film This Is England and roped in a few ‘soapies’ after a stint as Eli Dingle in Emmerdale.

He was only eight when he joined Coronation Street to play tearaway Jamie Armstrong.

Gilgun plays Rudy, who begins his community service and discovers the perils of having a super-power. He struggles to keep his secret under wraps, while following the ordeal with Seth, the others are forced to deal with a threat unlike any they’ve encountered before.

Fun and games are promised for the third series, in which the gang of offenders get to grips with all-new superpowers, having met a superpower dealer during last year’s Christmas special.
