Aldi set to open new store in Portobello this week

Olympic gold and silver medallist cyclist Callum Skinner is set to open the doors of a new Aldi store in Portobello on Thursday, the retailer has announced.

The first 100 people in the queue will also receive golden envelopes from Skinner, each containing a prize. Customers will be in with the chance of winning a range of prizes including a 48” TV, Air Fat Fryer, DAB Alarm Clock Radios and bags of Aldi shopping.

The store on Main Street, has created around 28 new jobs.

Aldi Store Manager, Chris Anderson said: “We’re got some great prizes and opening week deals on offer on the morning of the opening, so we’re hoping for a good turnout.

“We’ll also be showcasing some of our fantastic Scottish suppliers with a variety of food samples, which I’m sure customers will enjoy.”

Following its launch, the store will be open Monday – Saturday 8.00am – 10.00pm, and Sunday 9.00am – 7.00pm.
