A business that follows coronavirus restrictions but still allows you to enjoy your experience is something that we have all wished for over these past few months.

From swimming pools to hairdressers, opticians to cafes and restaurants, you have told us your all-time favourite Edinburgh businesses you feel safest at during lockdown.

An overall crowd-pleaser was Edinburgh Leisure. Maggie Moore sung their praises, saying: “Well done Edinburgh Leisure for keeping us safe, staff are doing an AMAZING job.

"They’ve been on top of it since they reopened.”

Claire A A Eadie paid particular mention to Edinburgh Leisure’s Dumbrae Centre. “Guys have been excellent especially keeping changing areas clean,” she said.

Graeme Foley took the plunge and found the Royal Commonwealth pool was a success, saying: “Great set up and thoroughly enjoyed our swim in our personal pod in the pool.”

The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena offers a bit of fun whilst paying attention to hygiene and social distancing guidelines.

Susan Clay said the arena was “always helpful, loads of sanitising stations and everyone social distancing”.

Feeling both pampered and protected, Les Smith was impressed by her experience at Zest Skin Spa.

She said: “Felt very safe when attended for a treatment, salon spotless and staff totally up on all the health and safety measures following government guidelines. Made me feel safe and secure in the current climate.”

It was all smiles for Heather McCall at Laurieston Dental Care as she felt “extremely safe” and she said “they are doing a fantastic job”.

Vision Express at the Fort made everything clear and safe for Rose Morley Bfrp[sic], who said: “Very well set out, great staff and made to feel very safe all throughout my eye check.”

Raymond Edinburgh are letting us forget our awful lockdown hair-dos.

Marnie Tindale said: “Raymond Edinburgh felt very safe and the place was spotless, chairs and hairdressing stations constantly being cleaned.”

Allan Preston said The Black Ivy made him “feel safer than anywhere else in the city”. He added: “It’s spotless, the staff are all masked up, you get the menu through your phone so not touching menus , everyone following the rules when using the toilets and putting masks on, people get an allotted time for eating and it’s table service only, the whole thing is first class.

“Extremely harsh they, like other businesses, are closed as they could not do anymore.”

Pam Birkmyre recommends the Queen Charlotte Rooms on the Orient Express in Leith when they reopen. She said: “ I would highly recommend it. Felt so safe everyone was social distancing and there was a temperature check and hand sanitiser before we sat down.”

Peter MacPherson paid homage to Dickens Lounge Bar in Dalry. He said: “[Dickens] were brilliant and took every precaution necessary Always friendly, always felt safe.”

And finally, Kerry Stanger was impressed by everywhere the capital city had to offer as she said: “I’ve been in Edinburgh twice in last few months and l felt safe everywhere.”
