Wetherspoon add quinoa salad and smashed avocado to Edinburgh menu

A smashed avocado bagel and quinoa and kale salad have been added to the menu of nine Wetherspoon pubs around Edinburgh.

The pubs have also increased their range of gourmet burgers and hot dogs.

A New York deli burger (6oz beef patty, pastrami, mustard mayo, gherkin) as well as an Empire State burger (two 6oz beef patties, American cheese slices, maple-cured bacon) are now on offer, made from 100 per cent British beef.

Two new hot dogs have also been added to the menu; State dog (Monterey Jack cheese & pepper sauce, maple-cured bacon, gherkin, crispy onion) as well as Bombay dog (curry sauce, tomato, onion, coriander, crispy onion).

Two new bagels are also available; New York-style pastrami bagel (mustard mayo, rocket, gherkin) and Smashed avocado bagel (tomato, onion, coriander).

The Quinoa salad features quinoa, rice, avocado, adzuki beans, grilled red and yellow pepper, red cabbage, chia seeds, kale, dressing.

It can be served on its own or with either pulled chicken or grilled halloumi.

The participating pubs are; The Standing Order and The Alexander Graham Bell, both in George Street, The Playfair in Omni Centre, The Booking Office at Waverley Bridge, The Caley Picture House in Lothian Road, The White Lady in St John’s Road, Corstorphine, The Foot of the Walk in Constitution Street, Leith, The Blacksmith’s Forge in Newmills Road, Dalkeith and The James Young in Hopetoun Street, Bathgate.

The Alexander Graham Bell manager, Mark Brown, said: “We are confident that the new meals will enhance our menu and prove popular with customers.”
