Colleges festival displays talents ahead of merger

THE Edinburgh Colleges Festival launched in style with a gala dinner attended by Education Secretary Mike Russell.

The dinner, which was held at Telford College and attended by 130 guests, allowed Telford, Stevenson and Jewel & Esk to celebrate student success ahead of their merger in October.

All hospitality and catering was provided by a team of more than 100 students.

Guests were also treated to performances from a jazz band from Stevenson College and the Telford College choir.

Mr Russell said: “I am certain these students will rise to considerable heights.”

The festival will run until June 30.
