New Edinburgh nursery encourages self-discovery in natural spaces

Bertram Nursery Group which has cared for children in the Capital for over 20 years has relaunched services, incorporating outdoor learning opportunities into the curriculum.

The new service, rebranded as Thrive Childcare and Education, aims to enhance children’s learning through self-discovery in natural spaces.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic struck, the early years education provider surveyed parents to find out what they wanted from their nursery provider.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

Responses showed a clear need for continued investment in outdoor environments.

Taking this feedback on board, the team used lockdown to review its services for children and plan the relaunch.

CEO Cary Rankin explained: “Our commitment to putting children first and providing a safe and nurturing environment hasn’t changed, and never will.

“We recognise that children’s learning is enhanced in invigorating outdoor spaces and we are committed to investment in outdoor learning opportunities.”

“Our nurseries are part of the local communities they serve and we recognise that one-size doesn’t fit all.”
