Portobello High School sends Edinburgh parents exam results for other people's children
PARENTS at a city school have been given an apology after they were sent exam results for other people’s children.
The e-mail mix-up involving pupils at Portobello High School is said to have affected only a “small number” of youngsters. The city council apologised and asked parents to delete the results sent in error. An investigation has been launched into how the mistake occurred. But the council said no other school had been affected.

They were told: “You may have received an email in error from school today which contains exam result information for a young person other than your own. If you have received this email, do not read it and please delete it immediately.
“In line with data legislation, a full investigation is now under way regarding how this happened. We apologise for any concern this has caused you.”
The mix-up comes after the Scottish Government U-turned on the controversial down-grading of original results.

“Even if it has now been sorted for Portobello High, it’s important that results are all double checked now so that students can have confidence in their grades.”
A council spokesman said: “Those affected have been contacted directly by the school and given an apology.”
