Coronavirus: Number of cases in Edinburgh and Lothians rise by 105

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Edinburgh and the Lothians have risen by 105 to 1,344 since Saturday.

The latest figures released by the Scottish Government at 2pm on Sunday show that 279 patients are being treated at hospitals in the Lothians, with a further 29 in intensive care.

Nationally, 8,187 people have now tested positive for the virus from a total of 31,495 tests.

Sadly, 903 of those patients who tested positive have died.

As of midnight last night, there were 1,797 people in Scottish hospitals with either confirmed or suspected Covid-19 (including those in intensive care).

Almost 70 per cent of all registered deaths involving Covid-19 to date in Scotland have been people aged 75 or over.
