Coronavirus in Scotland: 176 new cases confirmed in the Lothians in 24 hours

A total of 176 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Lothians in the last 24 hours.

The news comes as the country sees a daily rise of 758 cases across the country – 12.1 per cent of newly tested individuals – according to the latest Scottish Government statistics which were released today, October 4.

So far in Scotland, 210 people are being treated in hospital with the virus and 22 patients are in intensive care.

No new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours which means the country’s death toll from the virus still stands at 2,530.

However, 4,257 deaths have been registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of September 16, 46 per cent of Covid-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 46 per cent were in hospitals and 7 per cent were at home or non-institutional settings, according to the latest government data.
