Coronavirus in Scotland: Seven people have died from coronavirus as more cases reported in the Lothians

Seven people in Scotland have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest number recorded since June 17.

The First Minister also announced that 640 new positive cases of the virus have been reported, with 160 of those cases in the Lothian health board area.

232 of those cases are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde and 73 are in Lanarkshire.

There are currently 137 people in hospital and 15 patients in intensive care after testing positive.

Ms Sturgeon has stressed that the numbers are increasing across all age groups and reiterates the importance of people self isolating if they display symptoms.
