Covid-19 case confirmed at St Mary’s RC Primary School in Leith

Parents of pupils at St Mary's RC Primary School in Leith have been notified after an individual connected with the school tested positive for Covid-19.

The school will remain open and unless parents have been contacted to say otherwise, any children who have not had direct contact with a confirmed case will attend as normal.

Headteacher Peter Gibb said the school is working closely with the NHS Lothian Health Protection Team and following all national guidance.

In a joint statement with NHS Lothian, Mr Gibb wrote: “We are aware of a person in the school who has tested positive for Covid-19.

“We have been working closely with NHS Lothian Health Protection Team and following all national guidance.

“A number of people have now been contacted because they have been in close and sustained contact with the case and the tracking process is now complete.

“These contacts will need to self isolate and appropriate guidance and advice has been given.

“If you have not been contacted, your child should attend school as normal.”
