Nicola Sturgeon has taken to social media with a message for all students after several breakouts at University have left hundreds self isolating.

“Please self isolate if advised, follow rules on socialising & household mixing, remember FACTS.

“Uni’s have a big responsibility to look out for your welfare - especially if you are isolating - and I know they take that seriously. Thank you.”

She also added that the advice that was given to students today to stay away from pubs and hospitality venues is applicable just for this weekend in an effort to stop the current outbreaks spreading.

Students at all Scottish Universities have been told today that their current residence, whether halls or student flat, classes as their household, and they will be unable to go back to their parents homes.

They have also been asked to avoid socialising with people outside of their households.
