S. Luca ice cream parlour re-opens in Morningside and Musselburgh

Ice cream parlour S. Luca has re-opened for business in Morningside and Musselburgh.

There are strict social distancing measures in place, with customers asked to queue outside at spots marked by tape 2m away from each other, and to use contactless payments if possible.

In Morningside customers will be served through the serving hatch, while in the Musselburgh shop, which doesn’t have one, customers will be allowed in to the shop one at a time.

To begin with there is a reduced menu on offer, including tubs, cones and coffees but with soft scoop flavours limited.

Company Director Yolanda Luca said the Musselburgh shop was ‘very busy’ all day yesterday, with the sunshine bringing customers to the parlour ‘non-stop’.

Ms Luca had been managing the queue in the car park – and said both stores will maintain staff members working on managing queues and ensuring social distancing.

“We’ve got all the x’s marked out, we just need to make sure people stand on them,” she said.

“I’t a pleasure to be back. I was a little bit nervous but a lot of other places are doing it. I think we’re being responsible and taking the right precautions – we’ve got one person serving and another taking payment, and a station outside with handgel, wipes and paper.

“I don’t think we could be doing any more.”
