One of Edinburgh’s Scottish Government buildings lit up to join the national salute to NHS workers.

The Scottish Government’s Victoria Quay building in Leith bathed in blue at 8pm this evening as Scots across the country joined in the Clap for Carers event.

Pipers across the country showed their support by playing Scotland the Brave as residents clapped from their windows and balconies.

The Clap For Carers campaign, which started online, is being staged to show the nation’s support and appreciation for NHS workers fighting the coronavirus.

Organisers said: "During these unprecedented times they need to know we are grateful.”
