Tesco Leith confirm member of staff has tested positive for coronavirus after returning from holiday

A staff member at an Edinburgh Tesco Superstore has tested positive for coronavirus the retailer has confirmed.

The store affected by the coronavirus case is the Tesco Superstore on Duke Street.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “A colleague at our Leith Superstore recently tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating. Their close contacts have been informed.

"The safety of our colleagues, customers and suppliers remains our number one priority and we are following all Government guidance and taking the relevant precautions.

"We have extensive measures across all of our stores to help keep everyone safe, including hand sanitiser around the store, protective screens at every checkout, social distancing signage and regular deep cleaning.

"We also remind customers that masks should be worn with signs throughout the store and through regular announcements over the store tannoy system.”

It is understood that a deep clean of area where the team member worked has been carried out.

Portugal, French Polynesia and Greece have all recently been added to the list of places Scots will have to self-isolate for 14 days after visiting.
