East Lothian based charity Walk With Scott (WWS) has raised and donated almost £20,000 to support its community during the coronavirus pandemic.

The charity, who put everything they raise toward supporting their area, donated £18,000 to a partnership with Home Start East Lothian, EL Foodbank and Wee Red Upcycles to ensure that local families in need were supplied with food and craft boxes, as well as giving students at Preston Lodge High School £500 to kick start their fundraiser to make PPE equipment.

On top of this they started a crowdfunding campaign after being approached by the Western General Hospital who were in desperate need for digital thermometers, and WWS has already reached the £4,000 mark.

Thanks to these donations, 750 craft bags a month will go to local families with children who may be struggling during lockdown, along with 126 people who have received fresh food.

Karen Kidd from WWS commented: “We’re immensely proud to be able to do something for our local community.

“Our ethos at the WWS Foundation is ‘with our communities at heart’ and it gives us great pride to be able to help others across out county, who themselves are pulling out all the stops to support our amazing key workers and those families who desperately need a wee bit of extra help at this time.”
