Members for NHS youth forum sought

new members are being sought for NHS Lothian’s Young People’s Advisory Group (YPAG).

The forum, for people aged between 12 and 18 years, was set up to help improve health services for children and young adults, and gives members the opportunity to share their ideas, hopes and aspirations for the current and new Sick Kids hospital.

Janice Mackenzie, the chief nurse at the hospital, said: “We recognise that young people have a very important role in influencing the provision of health care and how it is delivered.

“By becoming a member of YPAG and representing the voices of young people, you can make a difference to those living in your community, gain work experience and build networks with other young people and organisations.”

Members attend meetings every second month and will get involved with tasks including design and layout of young people’s areas in the proposed new hospital, and helping smooth the route for young people moving into adult services.
