Phase 1 of the £1billion city centre development, which has attracted some criticism, will be completed next month, when dozens of new shops set to open their doors.
The website Skyscrapercity.com lists numerous developments across the city, including the £350million Haymarket redevelopment and the revitalised £47million Meadowbank Sports Centre.
Here are 13 major developments to look out for in the coming year.
1. Haymarket Edinburgh

2. New Waverley
The completion of phase one of this huge £240million Canongait Development in 2021 will see the residential part of the development completed. When finished, the mixed-use development will include 185 homes, 18,000 m² of office space, a 146-room Adagio Aparthotel, a 127-room Premier Inn, a 121-room Hub by Premier Inn, a 21-room DogHouse Edinburgh and BrewDog Bar, the Edinburgh Gin distillery and visitor centre, and 28 shops. 3. New Fountainbridge
Phase one of this project, creating 5,500 m² of office space and a 262-room Moxy Hotel, was recently completed. Phase two, adding 2,253 homes and 744 m² of retail space is set to be finished by 2023. Photo: 3DReid
4. BHS Redevelopment
The £50million redevelopment of the former BHS store on Princes Street is set to be completed this year. It will add a new store, 137-room Premier Inn hotel and rooftop restaurant to Edinburgh's main shopping street, as well as new shops and restaurants on Rose Street. Photo: CDA
