Five Things To Do In Edinburgh: Tuesday 13 November

• MUSICAL: Joseph and the Amazing. Technicolor Dreamcoat Forty-five years after it was born, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most popular musical returns to the Playhouse, with Dalkeith-born Keith Jack in the title role.

The 24-year-old originally competed for and failed to win the part on the BBC TV talent search Any Dream Will Do. However, that didn’t stop Jack appearing in the production when it toured to the Playhouse in 2007 as The Narrator. Landing the role came as a surprise to Jack.

“I was at a BBC party, all the Josephs, Nancys and Marias were together, and Joseph producer Bill Kenwright was there. He turned to me and said, ‘You could really be a Joseph now’.

“Then about four weeks later my agent called and said they wanted me to go back and play Joseph. I thought it was a joke to start with... when I realised it was serious it took me all of two seconds to say yes.”

Following a sell- out west end run earlier in the year, the star of BBC2’s Mock The Week and BBC1’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow returns with a brand new show that questions the ideas of community and responsibility.
