A host of new bars have opened in the Capital in the past year so there’s plenty to explore on the drinks scene.
Between a New York-themed bar and a ball pit serving cocktails, residents and visitors alike will be spoiled for choice when it comes to planning their nights out.
Here are just eight of the coolest pubs and bars to open in Edinburgh since 2021.
1. Porty Vault
Porty Vault offers up 24 of the brewery’s own double-fermented fruit flavoured beers along with guest beers, wines and mead.
The new bar on Portobello High Street hits the sweet spot with its fruit flavoured beers and range of “slow and smoked” BBQ style foods.
2. 63rd + 1st
‘63rd + 1st’ cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of the Capital is inspired by Fridays in New York.
The trendy Frederick Street bar serves up seasonal cocktails in a Manhattan-style venue with a heated terrace.
3. Ballie Ballerson
Ballie Ballerson transformed the former McSorley’s Irish Bar on Forrest Road.
Drinkers at the bar can wade through a waist-deep, wall-to-wall, mirrored, LED disco bottomed ball pit.
4. The Festival
Named after a cult classic film The Festival has been given a throwback rebrand.
The Morrison Street pub has a 'secret garden' and has been described as a 'cosy home-from-home modern bar'.
