Great deals at Edinburgh all-you-can-eat buffet
With business booming since restrictions were lifted in Scotland at the end of April, Mr Basrai's World Cuisines Edinburgh has unveiled a host of great deals.
The much-loved eatery offers some of the best Indian and Chinese cuisine in the city, made by chefs who have worked in the best restaurants both in the UK and overseas.
The global menu of healthy and high-quality food at Mr Basrai’s is perfect for any occasion, and there's something to please every diner. There's a wealth of sumptuous Indian dishes, with a contemporary twist on classics including aloo gobi, lamb madras and flavourful seekh kebab.
If you're in the mood for Chinese, Japanese or Thai, there's a huge variety of authentic options including delicious fresh sushi like the salmon, tuna and mixed pepper maki. Popular options include hot and crispy spring rolls, juicy crispy duck in hoisin sauce or beef in Massaman curry, along with sweet and sour chicken, lamb Penang and stir-fry vegetables. There's also the fantastic noodle bar bringing all the very best aromatic tastes of Asia straight to your table.
Salad lovers can make the most of the vibrant selection of vegetables and healthy side dishes like chicken Caesar salad, aubergine salad or artichoke and broccoli salad as well as the packed salad bar.
Or for the meat eaters, check out the tasty carvery along with a mouth-watering selection of chargrilled steaks, chicken and beef infused with the signature rich smokiness from the grill.
The beauty of the buffet is that you don't have to choose: you can also pile your plate with Mexican food, from fajitas to black bean chilli, with fresh fluffy rice alongside.
Craving Italian? No problem – try the freshly made pizzas and pasta along with delicious fish and succulent meat. Or check out the creamy roast chicken risotto for the perfect combination of comfort food and taste!
Then why not round it all off with a trip to the dessert station to satisfy your sweet tooth: choices include cheesecake, fudge cake, brownies and the tempting chocolate fountain.
The desserts are handmade by a pastry chef with a wealth of experience – making this much more than other all-you-can-eat establishments.
“We take a lot of pride in the food we create here at Mr Basrai’s as we want to offer great cuisine from around the world which is why we’ve hired the best chefs to prepare it for our diners,” says director Vikram Shekhawat.
“This is a family-run business, and we love having families and children in to share a meal together.”
Kids under the age of ten are half-price, while under-threes eat for free. Pre-Covid, it was a popular destination for family get-togethers and birthday parties and Vikram is hopeful that it won’t be long until celebrations can be held again.
“We always include items that we know children will enjoy eating because we want them to come along and have a great time,” he adds. “It really is a great place for the whole family.”
To honour the dads, stepdads and like-a-dads in the city, Mr Basrai’s World Cuisines will be running a competition to give away vouchers on its social media – follow on Facebook for full details.
Or why not take advantage of the great offers? Students can get 15 per cent off their food bill by showing their ID card (except for Saturdays), while NHS and emergency services workers get 10 per cent off from Sunday to Friday, as do members of the armed forces.
Or show your cinema ticket from any Edinburgh cinema to get 15 per cent off your food bill (except for Saturdays). Full details here.
