Top chef cooks up a stir at Jupiter Artland

A top Edinburgh chef is hosting a pop-up dining experience at Jupiter Artland.

Barry Bryson, a leading private chef renowned for his culinary creations, will offer a pop-up dining experience at the sculpture park and gallery until October 25.

The park, which sprawls across 100 acres of meadows and woodland, will be opening its doors daily from 10.30am-5pm during the October break to allow families to explore nature and art in a safe manner.

Over 30 site-specific sculptures, designed and created by artists such as Phyllida Barlow, Charles Jencks, Anish Kapoor, Cornelia Parker and Antony Gormley are located across the park.

The Cater Edinburgh chef’s menu revolves around autumn, incorporating a variety of seasonal and local produce. It includes St Brides warm roast chicken Caesar salad; braised borders beef croquettes; salmon, ginger and scallop dumplings; pumpkin and cauliflower curry; Great Glen Charcuterie and Barry’s tomato chutney, as well as homemade soup of day and freshly baked bread.

There is a children’s menu available alongside a selection of hot and cold drinks, cakes and scones.

No stranger to the Artland, Barry first collaborated with them in 2009 when he developed and managed the café over the course of five years. He makes his return to celebrate its first October holiday opening.

“I hope to bring my own style of culinary flair to this creative space and offer everyone a warm and relaxing environment to enjoy world-class sculpture, art and the great outdoors. Expect creative autumnal cooking with the emphasis on season and sustenance.

“This is a double celebration for me as Cater Edinburgh is also celebrating 21 years of exceptional private catering across the Lothians, the rest of Scotland and worldwide.”

The chef boasts an impressive resumé, which includes cooking at the Edinburgh Food Festival, Foodies Festival and Edinburgh International Book Festival. In 2018, Barry made the transition from kitchen to stage, after being personally selected to star in Nigel Slater’s autobiographical play, “Toast”, at Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre.
