BABA

(130 George Street, EH2 4JZ)

Award-winning Chef-Owners of Glasgow’s popular Ox and Finch, Jonathan MacDonald and Daniel Spurr, opened their first Edinburgh site in October.

Featuring an unconventional menu of Eastern Mediterranean dishes from their bespoke charcoal grill, as well as mezze plates and stylish cocktails, Baba has been garnering rave reviews since its opening.

THE IVY ON THE SQUARE

(6 St Andrew Square, EH2 2BD)

Fine dining specialists The Ivy Collection, launched their first Scottish site in Edinburgh in September.

The restaurant at St Andrew Square is an all-day brasserie, serving classic British dishes, with visitors able to enjoy everything from breakfast in the luxurious dining room to cocktails on the Parisian-style outdoor terrace.

GAUCHO

Argentinian Steak house chain Gaucho announced a November opening for their flagship restaurant and bar in St Andrew Square.

Diners are guided through the menu via the Gaucho beef board – a selection of signature prime cuts, including lomo, ancho and cuadril, brought to their table by a highly trained, dedicated host with a well curated selection of Argentinian wines and cocktails on offer to complement the steaks.

VAPIANO

(South St David Street, EH2 2BW)

Popular European restaurant chain, Vapiano, opened their first Scottish branch in Edinburgh in October, offering casual and laid-back Italian dining.

Pizzas, pastas, salads and antipasti are made fresh in front of customers in the open kitchen, and everything is paid for at the end using the restaurant’s signature smart-card system.

TRENCHTOWN

Offering a little touch of the Carribean sunshine in the capital, Trenchtown in Tollcross offers traditional Jamaican style dishes, with jerk chicken and ribs, rice and peas, goat curry, sweetcorn fritters and spicy burgers, accompanied by beer and tropical cocktails on offer.
