Street Food Fridays kick off at Fountainbridge

LOOKING for something to spruce up those Friday lunch times or even your after-work exploits? There's a new street food market getting under way in Fountainbridge from today (April 15).

The new street food event comes from the people behind the foodie stalwarts Leith and Stockbridge markets and will be running from the Union Canal from 11am to 7pm.

Street Food Fridays will be looking to attract the ravenous lunch-time crowd as well as after-work munchers to their canal-side set up.

The market is boasting some big hitters of Edinburgh’s street food scene, including Swiss dumplings from Alplings, local produce reworked from Fresh rEVOLution, Indian culinary specialists Babu Bombay Street Kitchen and Vegan favourites The Grumpy Tart.

Also, set to make their debut is Umami Spice Girl, a brand known for ‘curry kits’ with some sock-knocking fire power are set to be dishing out curry to Edinburgh’s hungry foodies.

As well as this, there’s free canal boat rides for wee ones until 2pm and live music sets throughout the day.

Fountainbridge Street Food Fridays gets under way with their first session on April 15, 11am to 7pm at the Union Canal.
