There's an axe throwing, cocktails and pizza pop-up coming to Edinburgh

A new pop-up event in Edinburgh could provide the perfect alternative date night for Valentine's Day this year.

Urban axe throwing is growing in popularity across the country with stars such as Game of Thrones and Justice League actor Jason Momoa and TV host Jimmy Kimmel going viral with videos of them taking part in the sport.

Now the Black Axe Throwing Co. has teamed up with The Pitt Market favourites Pizza Geeks to create a series of fun nights in the capital with axe-throwing, pizza and cocktails on the menu.

Running from the 14th February to 18th February and taking place at The Biscuit Factory in Leith, guests will be given the chance to enjoy  throwing the hatchet style axes at wooden targets at the end of lanes in a similar - but infinitely cooler - format to tenpin bowling or archery.

Described as a “test of skill, not strength”, everybody and anybody can apparently master it with instructors on hand with advice and throwing tips for everyone.

Tiered ticket packages for the public will include an axe throwing session, specially prepared pizza and a range of delicious cocktails, with prices start at £20 per person.

Gareth Fairlie, Founder of Black Axe Throwing Co. said: “We’re so excited to bring urban axe throwing to Edinburgh for the first time.

“It’s a trend that is becoming popular around the world and for us to be the first in Scotland is a real honour. Axe throwing is a real test of skill, not strength, so we encourage everyone to come down and give it a go.”
