Covid Scotland: Morocco bans flights from the UK - just after new Ryanair route from Edinburgh to Marrakesh was announced
The Moroccan government has banned travel to and from the UK, due to rising Covid cases, just days after Ryanair announced a twice-weekly route from Edinburgh Airport to Marrakesh.
The suspension, which came into effect on midnight on October 20, will last for “an unspecified period”, according to the UK Government.
This travel-ban may affect people who had booked the newly announced route from Edinburgh to Marrakesh.
A spokesperson for Ryanair said: "Ryanair fully complies with Govt travel restrictions. Following the Moroccan Govt’s decision to impose a travel ban on flights from the UK, Germany and Netherlands without prior notice, Ryanair has been forced to process several cancellations. Affected customers have been notified by email/text message and informed of their options including a free move, flight voucher or refund”.
“As travel restrictions update regularly, Ryanair urges all passengers to check the latest travel updates at Ryanair.com and with the relevant authorities in advance of their flight.”
