2012 ‘off to a good start for property’

THE Capital’s property market has seen an optimistic start to 2012, according to information from estate agent Simpson & Marwick.

The firm has reported that its Edinburgh and East Lothian property market had shown an increase of both new enquiries and sales during the first two months of the year.

The head of the property practice, Richard Loudon, told the Evening News: “We have been out to see over 150 potential properties for sale since the turn of the year.

“And during this period we have sold, or have under offer, 65 properties compared to 48 in the same period last year.

“Whilst we do not expect to see a real recovery in prices in the near future, it seems that prices are hopefully stabilising as the spring property market emerges, with both buyers and sellers showing more confidence.”
