50-year-old charged after '˜deliberate fire' in Loanhead flat

Police in Midlothian are investigating following a fire at a flat in Loanhead.

Fire crews attended the property

Police and the fire service attended the property on the High Street at around 8.15pm on Saturday 19th May.

The fire is being treated as deliberately set and a 50 year old man has been charged in connection with it, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

No-one was hurt and no evacuation was required.

DC Kenneth McKenzie of Dalkeith CID said: “Emergency services were quick to respond and ensure the fire did not take hold. I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen or heard anything which may assist my investigation into this incident.”
