AN Edinburgh Airport fire manager was sacked from his job after he was convicted of assaulting his wife.

David Hume pushed his wife Lesley during a violent fight causing her to fall over and smash her head against a piece of furniture. As a result of his conviction, Hume, of Musselburgh, lost his job as a watch manager at the airport, but was subsequently reinstated at a lower position as a firefighter following an appeal.

Hume, 45, was fined £300 at Haddington Sheriff Court.
