Airport officer bill hits £2m

POLICING at Edinburgh Airport costs operator BAA more than £2 million.

BAA funds a range of officers and staff, including 15 constables, ten firearms officers and a community beat officer, at an annual cost of £1.4m.

Six sergeants costing £400,000 and an inspector at £82,000 are also paid for.

One station assistant, five traffic wardens and an intelligence and briefing officer are funded with £214,000.

Bosses at Ocean Terminal shopping centre fund an officer at an annual cost of £12,766.
