Airport in swoop for new routes

Bosses at Edinburgh Airport have taken part in a drive to bring new routes to the Capital.

A team from the airport met with more than 20 airlines at the 17th World Route Development Forum in Berlin last weekend.

Janice Antonson, Edinburgh Airport’s head of aviation and marketing, said: “This forum is an important part of our route development effort. It’s the only place where we can meet all of the airlines we want to in one place.

“We have an ongoing dialogue with our carriers throughout the year. However this event gives us time and space to discuss opportunities further and to catch up with our industry colleagues on aviation issues that affect us all.

“Edinburgh remains a top-tier destination in Europe and we’re working very hard in these austere times to attract the links our passengers want.

“Edinburgh’s strengths as a European capital are well known and people want to come here for a variety of reasons.

“We’re doing our best to run a leading European airport and we believe that this partnership between us and the city is a winning one.”
