Former Scotland international goalkeeper Alan Rough has given acting his best shot in a promotional video for the Homeless World Cup.
The sportsman appears alongside record-breaking long-distance cyclist Mark Beaumont, and STV News chief anchor John MacKay, in a short online film to back Team Scotland in the competition - which runs in Glasgow from July 10-16.
The piece - Street Soccer Scotland v Edinburgh Airport - was filmed at Turnhouse and also features footballers from the men’s and women’s Scotland teams, Scottish Government Sports Minister Aileen Campbell, youngsters James Robertson and Josh McDonald from Hutchison Vale Community Sports Club, Partick Thistle FC’s mascot Kingsley and Scotch Beef’s mascot Hamish the Highland Cow.
David Duke, the founder and Chief Executive of Street Soccer (Scotland), said: “All the players had a great time making the YouTube promo – and it is a fantastic way of celebrating our partnership with Edinburgh Airport.
“The players are all now fully focused on the main event and our opening game against Hong Kong in George Square in Glasgow on Sunday, July 10 – we really believe we can do well and make everyone in Scotland proud.”
Gordon Dewar, Edinburgh Airport’s Chief Executive, added: “Street Soccer Scotland and Edinburgh Airport have much in common – we both have big international ambitions and we aim to be the very best at what we do.
“This is a great partnership and we are proud to be backing David Duke and the young men and women who will be wearing the dark blue and bidding to win the Homeless World Cup.”
